If Bailey and Chrissy Chris weren’t enough, there’s more available in the form of Fabio on radio 1 main station.

Check out replays of his shows at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

How to rip BBC’s drum and bass radio shows March 12, 2008

Bailey and Crissy Chris have the best tunes know to man on the D&B scene.

Wanting to listen to in MP3 at my leisure isn’t easy.   I had to rip the show from http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

Using the BBC Radio Ripper I managed to successfully dump out Crissy Chris and Bailey each week, albeit in 160kbps format.  Some tips for using the BBC radio ripper are to tell it to convert to MP3 AFTER the rip.  Otherwise you can have problems.  Also, keep the computer + bandwidth of your ADSL free so it may do it’s ripping business uninterrupted.

Intabeats – the best drum and bass show out there. October 30, 2007

Intabeats on Radio 1 is an excellent once a week show playing the best beats.

Bailey is a superb DJ and completely unirritating unlike the rest of the radio 1 djs.

Global Gathering is not just a dance even, it has – bungees, reverse bungees and freefall simulators; the chill out village with restful teepees as well and fairground rides. New for 2007 will be:

  • Hot air balloon rides that take guests 30 metres above the site offering views of the festival site below
  • Ibiza Angels  - head, neck and shoulder massages
  • The Trident Adult Playground which offers velcro inflatable walls, splash water fight rooms and giant soft bean bags for guests to chill

Breakbeat.co.uk July 3, 2007

http://www.breakbeat.co.uk/ is a great website to keep up to date on the latest jungle / drum and base stuff.

As it’s fairly minority, it’s hard to pick up on what’s in and what’s not.  Still glad to hear Radio 1 still playing the odd bit of drum and bass.

Jungle music doesn’t age (much) June 11, 2007

Jungle music is bizarre – since coming out in 1991, it’s not changed much.

Some tunes sound dated, this is usually because they were recorded on a 4-track and not the latest DAT tape.  Sometimes they use some old samples too.  But by and large, things haven’t changed much in 15 years.

My favourites have to be Grooverider and Fabio as DJs.  Still live and kickin’ Grooverider mostly organises events for Goldie and holds drum and bass nights in London.

It’s a minority music culture but still rocks…or ‘beats’ rather lol.

Hopefully on this blog I’ll be posting news and stuff related to Jungle and Drum and Base as it seems really limp recently for support for this genre.
